NRW Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst has called potential sponsors to support Schalke 04 after the separation from the Russian state-owned company Gazprom.
"A second division, who returns to such a big sponsor, that requires me respect. That will not be a light situation, said the CDU politician on Tuesday during a press conference.
"I invite everyone who always wanted to be a sponsor of a second division to support, Schalke now," said Wüst, "That's a good opportunity and certainly has a double advertising value if you do it in this situation."
Due to the Russian attack on Ukraine, Schalke had ruled by Gazprom. On the question of whether he saw the 31.5 million euros extensive state guarantee for Schalke, said Wüst: "About everything concerns what the land is concerned, we will advise you in due course."
According to media reports, the club for main sponsorship is entitled to an agreement with the apartment company Vivawest. With Gazprom were contractually agreed for a second division season.
